Shipping on November 26th, 2026. Over the years I’ve been asked to expand the reach of The Carpenters SAW/DUST Floppy Disk to those who may not have an Ensoniq Trilogy sampler or a floppy disk installed on those samplers. What could we do about those who may not even use a hardware sampler? This was a more difficult challenge to solve than it seemed. A simple audio download of the audio files would scarcely represent what makes The Carpenters SAW/DUST so special.

What happens when you mix Oscillators & Vinyl?

Blending the worlds or analog and digital perfectly. CS/DVSO is as hands on as it gets. You manually create your oscillator through the long-standing technique of vinyl sampling. This modified style now grants you the benefit of taking advantage of all the nuance and sound shaping control that sampling from vinyl offers. Here’s an opportunity to support the creation of the world’s first vinyl oscillator! An amazing piece of fusion technology.

One of the reasons behind making The Carpenters SAW/DUST was to provide a selection of highly usable raw oscillators for the Ensoniq Trilogy Samplers

And another reason was to ever so subtlety push each user to delve more into the world of sampler synthesis programming. Samplers are amazing! Their architecture is a hot bed for creating unique sounds. When this is done with sampled oscillators, incredible things happen!

I’ve always believed that sampling synthesis is still in its infant stages. The more we treat our samplers as synthesizers (which they are) the more musical we can be.

The Differences

The differences between the floppy disk edition and vinyl edition of The Carpenters SAW/DUST are indeed vast. And yet they’re complimentary. While the vast insane native synthesis is not present on the vinyl edition. CS/DVSO makes up for it with its own super powers.

The magic in this case is attributed to the vinyl itself. Yes, vinyl sounds different that’s definitely true. However, with CS/DVSO you can control the pitch of the oscillator before you sample. This may seem like a simple thing, right? But upon further inspection the intricacy of vinyl begins to speak. When the vinyl is slowed down, so is the nature of the waveform.

The sound begins to stretch out. More grit and character are revealed. This can then be sampled and retained in your sampler. This opens up a range of sonic options. And remember; This is happening in the analog domain! That’s just one tip. And I’m sure you’ll find several unique ways that these oscillators will be enhanced through a vinyl host.
